Update The index is hugely helpful, and makes the app much more useable. Looking forward to further improvements. :) ———— While I do use this app daily, it lacks features that have me searching for a replacement. For perspective, I keep over 200 audiobooks on my iPhone. Features this app needs: 1. Search 2. Index on the right side, as found in Contacts app 3. Condensed list display / ability to turn off cover art in the book list (I.e. show more titles at once) 4. Sorting options (by author, A-Z/Z-A) Other features that would be appreciated: 1. A way to sort series/show series titles together (folders, tags, ?) 2. Ability to have the book list presented using just the cover art
I’m a collector of radio drama and have hundreds of old time radio shows I like to listen to. This app makes it easy to do and allows me to keep them separate from audiobooks. If there was one think I’d like to see in the future is the addition of a CarPlay UI, which is where I listen to my content the most.
Forget about this app being a waste of your money... It's worse, a waste of time trying to figure it out. I never was able to get it to work. I ended up using iBooks. I wish I would have started with iBooks.
This player has a lot going for it. Clean look, never crashes, handles chapters well, is very nimble and responsive and putting the radio plays in a second tab is a clever secondary feature. Note that I expect you could put any books you like on the second tab as long as you added the tag in iTunes to those books. Now to the shortcomings. Note that this is my most used Player but these are the things that it really lacks. First, it really needs a swipe forward/swipe back/tap on the artwork for pause/play to make it useful while driving. Looking for the buttons is just too distracting when behind the wheel or when walking in bright sunlight. Second, since the sleep timer is most useful when going to sleep, why is it impossible to see at night after you've taken your glasses off? There has to be a way to make it more visible. In addition, the shake to extend feature is useless to those of us who dock the phone for charging at night. I've suggested better ways that have been used in the past in players. Hopefully some Dev will someday listen :-). The ability to have the entire screen rotate 180 when in a car dash slot or in your pocket would also be very welcome. All these things aside, it's probably the best $.99 I've spent in a long time. If you listen to a lot of books this is a nice app to have in your arsenal since it's few problems are acts of omission rather than commission. I'm not suggesting it gets bulked up with features like some other better known player but it does need a small set of features added.
I wasn’t able to import my mp3 files to this app it’s basically useless. Contacted the developer but haven’t heard from him. Waste of money
I like the function and such. But who the heck said "You know what this sleep timer needs? NOTIFICATIONS! And just for kicks, you can't shut them OFF!" Took me DAYS to figure out where those were coming from, it never even occurred to me it was my audiobook app. Anyway, my main use of audiobooks is at bedtime and having my phone buzz next to my head literally defeats the whole purpose. Back to the search for a good app...maybe back to the basic one onboard iphones.
Just started using this app. Right away, it found the audiobooks loaded into iBooks. iBooks doesn't always play my DRM-free books to the end. This app picks up where iBooks stopped.
Ever since apple ruined audiobooks with iOS 7, I've been using an iPod nano to get my fix. This was inconvenient since I was already carrying an iPhone. I was quite pleased to find Undulib in the App Store since it fixes most of the problems I experience trying to listen to audio dramas in iBooks. I withheld one star because it would be nice to have the option of a 15 second rewind or perhaps a selection of preset times that can be selected from the options. That's rather minor. The main feature I'd like to see added is the ability to sync playlists. I often mix single cd dramas in a playlist and it would be nice to have those playlists handy right in the app.
Great audiobook player & my go-to app (& I've tried quite a few) for enjoying books on-the-go. Had a question & developer was quick to respond to emails as well.
I like for me to be able to change skip time beyond 30 seconds
Great app, but I wish we could speed up stuff that we add in from iTunes.
Works very well, with an absolutely gorgeous user interface! Couldn't be happier with it.
I've been waiting my entire life for this app!! Seriously this is an amazing piece of work right here folks, please keep it up! Thanks for the update, again. Love the developer support!
Will not even open. Hit the icon and it just blinks back to the home screen. I want my money back.
Best $3 I've spent since I upgraded the iOS to 8.4 Seriously. Everything makes sense again with no BS in the way, and it works like it's supposed to. Actually works, unlike Apples new offerings. I only use it for audiobooks, no dramas, but I love it anyway. So glad I found this. You are my audiobook enabling hero!
I purchased this app once I discovered that Apple had really messed up audiobook playback with iOS 8.4, and I am really loving it. Unlike iBook it remembers where you are, which is perhaps the most important function of a device that plays audiobooks (one would hope!), it looks great, and it is easy to operate. Thank you very much!
Apple's audiobook support has been weak for years now. I just want a clean and stable player that handles chaptermarks, bookmarks, playback speeds and navigation. Undulib is the best out there. Great app.
I'd like to thank you for the great app, I can finally find, listen and operate audiobooks with ease. So far the only tiny wish is if skipping forward-back were performed a bit slower. And apple has a convenient feature of audio feed back every 15 sec. Otherwise it is an awesome nice application.
Did exactly what I was looking for. I listen to a lot of audio plays, and the iBooks app and few I could find managed to organize them the way I'd like. This did it perfectly, and I happily support this app.
I quite like that the app boasts a comprehensive set of features geared specifically towards audiobooks and dramas. It also remembers position on pause (unlike iBooks) and the sleep timer at the end of chapter is quite handy too... Nothing to complain about with this app.
After audiobooks were moved to iBooks I stumbled upon this app and was immediately surprise and pleased by the elegant simplicity and beauty of this app. If iBooks ever gets fixed I won't even bother using anything other than this app. If I could give it 10 stars I would. Kudos!
Fixes the issues I had after the recent update in iOS that moved audiobooks to iBooks. So now I can display my chapters in a readable way and having dual time lines showing remaining time in both the current chapter and the entire book is a helpful feature.
I hated the move of audiobooks from Music to iBooks. Functionality of iBooks is terrible right now. Undulib seems to restore most of what was lost. Love it. Only item I still need is playback at 1.5x and 2x. Website shows that will be added in upcoming update. Can't wait!
When apple released the new update to support apple music, they broke the audiobook functionality when they moved that to ibook. THIS has fixed the issue, and allows me to enjoy my audiobooks again. Thank you!!
I got this because I was not happy with the way the iBooks app plays my audiobooks and audio dramas. This app plays them the way I would expect an audiobook player to work and as a bonus it allows you to separate audiobooks from audio dramas. Also, it's great to finally be able to read the names of the chapters.
The most recent update moved audiobooks and audio dramas into iBooks, which apparently has troubles with cover art and chapter titles. This led me to searching for an alternative, and to this program. Drawn in by the screenshots of the Big Finish Doctor Who Audio Dramas (which I frequently listen to), I decided to give it a try! It works wonderfully well. It allows the dramas and books to be separated rather easily, which is great when you have a mix of both. They are then arranged by series, and it supports cover art and chapter titles for each individual episode properly (similar to the way iMusic did prior to 8.4). It is able to run in the background while other apps are opened (something that iBooks seems to have trouble with), displays and holds position properly, and allows seeking. When I went to try the app, it even picked right up where I left off in the episode I had been listening to through iBooks! I can also use the controls in my car for it, which seemed to be a problem for some third-party apps. The chapter titles display properly on the car's radio as well. I don't usually use the Sync voice commands with books, so I didn't test too many. It did recognize the "Pause" and "Play" commands properly. Presumably others would function as well. Definitely worth checking out if you listen to many audiobooks or audio dramas!
